Understanding

As I sit upon the dale,

Gazing into the waters of time,

A breeze blows swiftly through me,

Leaving a mark upon my soul.

I gaze hungrily into it’s depths,

Not understanding my ignorance,

Knowing that in the future,

Ignorance will not be bliss.

The people I’ve known,

And places I’ve seen,

Pass rapidly through my mind,

In an increasing and unending blur.

I understand so much,

Yet I know so little,

Always searching for the answers,

Hunting for the truth.

And when complete understanding arises,

A great weight is lifted,

The truth lays plainly before me,

Open for those willing to see.

But with understanding comes disappointment,

With desire comes a longing,

With comprehension comes a silence,

That shall be never ending,

That shall always be enduring.
