Jewel Baker
Jewel Baker was a wonderful black lab that belonged to Lisa Baker, my sister’s partner. Although I only got to know here in the later part of her life, she was quite precious to me. I still miss seeing her happy face and when she would greet me, she would gently grab my arm in her mouth and just sit there, holding it. What a good girl she was.
Jewel Baker was big and black,
Always on the search for a snack,
A personality that was oh so sweet,
Even while looking for rabbits to eat.
Through the house she would trudge,
Ready to give someone’s crotch a nudge,
With Morgan and Mattie she would play,
Sleeping at night and having fun all day.
Barking at birds perched in a tree,
Eating deer hooves while running free,
Now she has gone we realize with a start,
She will always reside deep in our heart.
